- Barbara Wishingrad, President, Santa

Barbara has worked as a midwife, childbirth educator,
massage therapist, herbalist, translator, doctor's assistant and
street artist, and is presently a child developmental specialist
working with Spanish speaking families in Santa Barbara, CA. She
is founder and President of The Rebozo Way Project, and has been
teaching about babywearing since 1988. Barbara wore her two sons
in rebozos from 1985-1990 while living in Mexico. She returned to
live in the U.S. in 1999. Barbara is dedicated to learning all she
can about indigenous cultures and traditional babywearing around
the world, and imparting that information to others.

- Vesta Garcia, Secretary, McKinney, TX,
U.S.A.
Vesta is the founder and President of Ellaroo, a manufacturer of
baby products, including four styles of baby carriers. Before that,
she way founder and owner of Peppermint.com, a retail company selling
a diverse selection of modern and traditional baby carriers and
related products. Vesta and her husband came to babywearing through
their introduction to rebozos during a class in Seattle, taught
by Terrie Abrahamson. Vesta's primary interest now lies in collecting
information about babywearing traditions and textiles around the
world
- Alissa Catalan,
Trustee, Chicago, IL, U.S.A.
Alissa is a working mother, Birthing From Within Mentor, Pink Kit
Presenter and DONA trained doula near Chicago, IL. Besides working
full time providing customer service & computer technical support
she leads Birthing From Within classes & gives Pink Kit presentations
and in both English and Spanish. She currently serves as the President
of NorthEastern Illinois Doula Association (NEIDA) and a board member
of BirthLink.
- Jennifer Gordon, Trustee, North Bay,
ON, Canada
Jennifer Gordon is a Canadian mom of three. Prior
to having children Jennifer worked in the field of Outdoor Education
with the Candian Outward Bound Wilderness School. Specializing in
work with youth and women who have experienced violence, Jennifers
work took her through many of the lakes, rivers and over the rocks
of the Canadian shield. Jennifers love of the wilderness translated
to a need to travel easily with her children. With the early birth
of her son in 2001 the use of traditional style baby carriers quickly
became an integral part of Jennifers life. Currently working
in sales and distribution of traditional style baby carriers in
Canada; Jennifer has been teaching Babywearing since 2004. Dear
to Jennifers heart is the work that she does with Ruby Mautaritnaak.
Together, Ruby and Jennifer produce and supply amautik, the traditional
inuit womens parka, to women and babies in North America and
around the world.
Our Advisory Board Members

The Rebozo Way Project
is proud to announce that we have organized our first Advisory Board.
It is comprised of eight members from a variety of backgrounds, with
many talents. Our board members include:
1. Carole McGranahan,
professor of cultural anthropology at the University of Colorado
Boulder, presently involved in a project that is studying babywearing
practices, physiological benefits, and parenting philosophies across
cultures.
2. Silvia Wasjutin is a bilingual speech therapist and represents
the Central Coast Attachment Disorders Support Group in CA.
3. Suzanne Arms is an acclaimed author, filmmaker, speaker,
visionary, and activist for healthy birthing options. She is the
director of Birthing the Future http://www.birthingthefuture.com/
4.John Travis, MD, MPH is a founding member of aTLC (Alliance
for Transforming the Lives of Children) http://www.altc.org
and is presently working on a book Why Men Leave: The Epidemic
of Disappearing Dads
5. Jun-Nicole Matsushita of HUGS (Help Us Give Slings):

is also a co-leader of the Iowa City Babywearers.
6.Ana Perusquia is a bilingual babywearer from Michoacán,

7. Marisol Holman is a doula and apprentice midwife, who
also runs Birth With Sol, perhaps the only wholesaler and
retailer of Mexican rebozos in the US and Canada http://www.birthwithsol.com/rebozos.html
8.Tracy Dower is a long time babywearing advocate and educator;
she founded The Mamatoto Project http://www.WearYourBaby.com
Mexican Representative
Lupita Gonzalez is our project representative in Guadalajara,
who, with Barbara, answers emails from Spanish speaking countries
and publicizies and lives the Rebozo Way of Life in its country
of origin. She is the mother of two children worn in rebozos, and
is studying to be a La Leche leader.

Tax deductible contributions may be made, as The
Rebozo Way Project has been approved by the IRS as a not for profit
501(c)3 organization. For donations over $200 or by special request,
a receipt will be sent when we receive the donation, and you may get
another receipt before the end of the fiscal year, November or December
2008.
