Celebrate Baby Wearing in the Year 2004!

In honor of the latest US golden dollar, which features Sacajawea carrying her baby in rebozo, we have dedicated a FUNdraiser for the Rebozo Way Project to this courageous woman.

Sacajawea was a Native American woman who accompanied Lewis and Clarke on their explorations of the Louisiana Purchase. She was a vital part of the expedition, and she carried her baby on her back the whole time, whether she was walking, tracking, gathering plants, or cooking. She is a great role model for in-arms parenting and we can use her presence on the new coin to educate others and to talk about in-arms and continuum/attachment parenting whenever we have a chance.

The FUNdraiser works as follows:

1) Send The Rebozo Way Project a $10 donation or more--donation may be by check, money order, or credit card. Our contact information is:

Donations by credit card can be received by mail, phone or fax.
2) Make sure you let us know, whatever way you choose to send it, that your donation is part of the Sacajawea fundraiser.

3) Spend or give away at least one Sacajawea golden dollar to someone else who will keep it in circulation, and when you do so, tell that person about the importance of in-arms parenting and the work of the Rebozo Way Project. Ask them to pass on this information when they pass on the dollar. Keep the dollars in circulation--(...do not collect all of them..)!!

4) If you are having trouble finding the golden dollars, you can order them from your bank, or buy them online from the US Mint (they only sell them in rolls of 25, cost is $35.50 and delivery delay is 6-8 weeks) Visit the Mint at www.usmint.gov, click on "buy online" and then "golden dollar". 5) When you send your donation earmarked "sacajawea fundraiser", you will be entered in a drawing for an Arco Iris Rebozo--an ample size rebozo, 28" x 94". The drawings will be held at the end of every November and May, so send in your donation today! !
