The Rebozo Way Project
Indigenous Babywearing Calendar
a 15-month calendar, October 2008 through December 2009
featuring images of babywearing from traditional cultures all over the world

We are going to do it! The Rebozo Way Project has decided to put together a calendar of traditional babywearing from around the world, and to offer them for sale for the first time at the Babywearing Conference next June! After that, they'll be available on our website and maybe we will find other outlets too. We are planning a 15-month calendar, from October 2008 through 2009. We have the exhibit space and volunteers (a few of us involved in the project) to sell the calendars at the conference. We are making it a RWP fundraiser, since we can sure use the money to help our good cause!!
You can help with this incredible project by providing us with one or more photos of traditional babywearers. Any photos submitted need to have been taken by the person sending them, or we need to have a written release from the photographer (whoever has the copyright of the photo or would have it if it were copyrighted). In order to be included in the calendar, we ask that you use our sample release forms when you submit your photos.
People can submit photos under two different distinctions:
to allow the Rebozo Way Project rights to use the photo only for the calendar,
or to allow the Rebozo Way Project to use the photo for educational purposes at any time.
In either case, you, or the photographer, would retain the copyright and could also use it in whatever way you wish. We prefer the second distinction, as we are not able to take photos all over the world of all of the babywearing possibilities without help from our friends, and we want to have the means to promote traditional babywearing worldwide in whatever ways may present themselves in the future too. But if anyone is hesitant about sending in a photo, we wanted to offer the choice of making it available to us just for the calendar project. At this time, we only have release forms for us to use photographs for the calendar as well as for other educational purposes. Please let us know if you want us to come up with a form specific only for the calendar. We will create such a release if there is a need.
We do not have a membership but we know that many babywearers have been helped by our educational materials, images, programs, and website. We invite you to feel a part of the Rebozo Way Project and submit your photo.
We do need photos that are 300 dpi or greater, at the size of 8" by 10", of a quality that they can be printed and look good, although in some cases we may accept a blurred or 'bad' photo if the subject is rare or absolutely enticing, or if the photo is old. Please contact us if you have any doubts about a photo you wish to submit. More exact requirements for submissions are below.
Please share your ideas with us as well as your photos!
We are also looking for anyone who has know-how about this kind of printing or connections in the calendar industry that may give a financial break to a non-profit organization that does good work in the world.
We have been looking into working with a green printer, who uses paper that is 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer waste, and processed chlorine free, as well as soy and vegetable based inks. So far, he prices look as good as or better than other printers. We are still in the process of investigating all that we need to do and pay for to make this calendar happen, but we are on our way! We are still open to hearing from others in the printing or calendar field.

thanks to everyone in advance for your help and photos!

We will continue to update this page and will soon post the model releases and more requirements for submitting photos. This page was created on January 15, 2008, and we will put dates on all updates so you know you have the latest information.
